Traffic at Copenhagen Airport: Better than expected in 2001
Copenhagen Airport’s fall in traffic since 11 September 2001 lower than at other European airports.
Traffic at Copenhagen Airport was down 4.9% since 11 September 2001, which was far less than expected. Copenhagen Airport thus outperformed its European peers. After 11 September, Amsterdam was down 7.5%, Stockholm: -10.9%, Frankfurt: -10%, Paris, Charles de Gaulle: -11.4%, Vienna: -9% and London Heathrow: -13.6%.
In a comparison with other European Airports, London Heathrow, Frankfurt and Paris, Charles de Gaulle all came out of 2001 with lower traffic, whereas only Amsterdam and Copenhagen came out of 2001 with growth. The growth rate for both airports was 0.1%.
Compared with Scandinavian airports (Stockholm, Oslo, Gothenburg and Billund), Copenhagen Airport was the only airport that recorded traffic growth in 2001.
Stockholm was down 0.9%, Oslo: -1.9%, Gothenburg: -1.5% and Billund: -7.6%.
