Core Competencies
Operating efficiency
One of our central objectives is to increase Group revenue without a parallel increase of costs, a combination which will result in increased efficiency.
One of the factors contributing to this improvement is flexible use of staff across professional boundaries. For example, one group of employees have a working day equally divided into service work in the terminals and work in the Security Department, and similar arrangements have been established for employees working in service and security functions related to actual air traffic operations.
The Company is working on flexible use of the various professional groups, with an employee working on technical operations one day, for example, and in bus transport the next. The advantage of this kind of arrangement is that Copenhagen Airports’ employees are dedicated and able to work flexibly in several different functions.
Capacity utilisation and expansion
Copenhagen Airports has developed the ability to utilise existing capacity while adding new, highquality capacity in a flexible way and with a limited use of capital. The Company has a ten-year rolling investment plan adjusted as needed to meet the requirements dictated by traffic volume forecasts.
The investment plan is very much based on flexible, phased solutions which make it possible to react swiftly to changes in capacity requirements, with projects implemented only if the operational and competitive assumptions are met.
Commercial activities
The commercial area of activity is a major part of Copenhagen Airports’ business operations. On the basis of detailed analyses of the types of passengers served at Copenhagen Airport, the Company develops shop concepts that match the customer groups, thereby gaining the greatest commercial potential and the highest possible revenue per passenger.
