Aviation security
We want you to feel safe and secure when you are at Copenhagen Airport. For this reason, airport staff consider security their highest priority. However, as a passenger, you will only see the tip of the iceberg, since a great deal to do with security must, of course, remain confidential. For airport workers, however, the stricter requirements and new rules in the area have become part of everyday life.
CPH Security today has more than 700 employees who handle all sorts of work to do with area, personal and baggage security at the airport.
You will meet some of us at the security checkpoint, where we screen you and your carry-on baggage to ensure that you are not carrying objects that could jeopardise security during the flight.
On your way through the transit area towards the gate you may notice other people in security uniforms or police officers discreetly patrolling in the terminals. In the meantime – somewhere in the airport – we are inspecting your checked baggage in a comprehensive security screening process before it is transported out to the aircraft.
40,000 watchful eyes
Copenhagen Airport covers an area of 12.4 square kilometres and has a 30-kilometre-long perimeter fence. In addition to camera surveillance, the airport is also monitored by driving and walking patrols, both indoors and out and around the clock.

One thing is the 700 specially trained security staff members, police officers and others, but another is the fact that there are actually more than 20,000 people working at the airport, keeping their eyes and ears open and playing an active role in the security set-up so that you can feel safe and secure during your trip. Also airport employees go through a security screening process when they enter the airside area.
You can identify us by our ID card, which we must always carry so it is visible when we operate in the airport area. Whilst we are doing our job and watching over you, you are also welcome to contact us at any time if you have any questions.
All the things you don’t see
You see only a very small part of the very extensive security set-up at the airport. It goes without saying that there are many things related to security that have to be kept secret, so we cannot tell our passengers everything about aviation security.
In these pages, we have put together some information on aviation security which we hope will answer some of your questions and help make you feel safe and secure during your trip.
