Liquids on your return trip
If both your departure and return are on the same day, you can purchase cosmetics, perfume, spirits and other items in the tax-free shops at Copenhagen Airport and bring them with you as cabin baggage, regardless of the rules restricting carry-on liquids.
Items must be in sealed bag
If you purchase such items at Copenhagen Airport, they will be put into a sealed transparent bag with a receipt attached, and you will be permitted to bring the bag as hand baggage through the security checkpoint(s) in the airport you will be departing from on your return trip. It is important that the bag remain sealed and unopened during your entire trip, with the receipt still attached to the bag.
Refund
If you followed the rules but security staff at another airport still confiscate your bag, Copenhagen Airport guarantees that you will receive a refund for your purchase. Click here for more information about this guarantee.
Transfer passengers arriving from non-EU countries
If you are arriving at Copenhagen Airport from a country outside the EU and will be departing again on another flight (i.e. if you are a transfer passenger), you will have to go through security. Please note that there are the same limitations on liquids as there are in other departures from the airport.
In other words, passengers in transit in the airport cannot bring with them bottles of spirits, perfume, etc. that contain more than 100 ml, and all the liquids a passenger wishes to bring on board in his or her hand baggage must be able to fit into a one-litre plastic bag.
Rules on liquids for flights from airports outside the EU to Copenhagen Airport
If you fly from airports outside the EU directly to Copenhagen Airport (for instance Bangkok - Copenhagen, USA - Copenhagen), you are allowed to bring liquids or duty-free products (liquids) purchased at an airport outside the EU. Please note, however, that you must go directly to the arrivals hall/baggage reclaim area after you have arrived at Copenhagen Airport.
If you fly from an airport outside the EU to Copenhagen Airport and connect to a domestic flight (for instance Bangkok - Copenhagen - Billund) or if you change flights in another EU member state (for instance USA - Sweden – Copenhagen Airport), you are not allowed to bring liquids or duty-free products (liquids) purchased in an airport outside the EU, even if they are packed in a sealed bag. The reason is that when you change flights at Copenhagen (or in another EU member state) you will go through security again, and there the EU rules on liquids apply.
However, you may bring liquids purchased on board a flight provided the airline is resident within the EU, for instance a Danish airline. If you buy duty-free products (liquids) or other liquids, the products will be placed in a special bag which the airline will subsequently seal together with the receipt.
