Bakery opens at Copenhagen Airport
There’s an aroma of cinnamon and fresh-baked bread in the air at Copenhagen Airport: Danish bakery chain Lagkagehuset has just opened an airport shop, giving this well-known Danish bakery concept a more international profile.
Danish and international passengers can’t resist peeking inside as they pass the bakery, where staff are busy with the day’s fresh-baked bread and high-quality cakes.
Lagkagehuset (280 sq.m.) is based on a vision and an ambition to provide the best taste experience and fresh bread that stays fresh longer: the idea is to build an international chain of quality bakeries on a foundation of proud Danish bakery traditions. With its new shop at Copenhagen Airport, the bakery chain has taken a step towards a more international profile.
Fulfilling traveller needs
As something new, Lagkagehuset has added hot dishes to the menu at its airport shop and will be expanding on that concept in future.
“Our selection is basically the same as at our ten other shops, but at the airport we are especially focused on the needs travellers have. Our opening hours at the airport are longer than traditional Danish bakery opening hours because there’s more demand for hot food there, especially in the evening,” says Lagkagehuset CEO Kristian Madsen.
To start with, chilli con carne has been added to the menu – but in a new guise: it comes baked in a very special kind of bread. This quality bakery also has salads, sandwiches, focaccia and pizzas on the menu.
Sit down and enjoy or get to go
Lagkagehuset is designed to appeal both to business travellers and to people with extra time before their flight.
“Lagkagehuset at the airport has room for about 60 people. There’s plenty of room to enjoy a cup of coffee or a bun in the stylish surroundings, but you can also buy a quick sandwich at the to-go counter at the front of the shop, which is shaped like a piece of the traditional Danish layer cake the chain is named after,” Madsen explains.

“With Lagkagehuset, Copenhagen Airport presents one of Denmark’s best brands in bread and bakery goods. Passengers will have plenty of opportunity to buy quality bread and cakes at reasonable prices. It’s an important step in our strategy of providing a more varied product offering,” says Carsten Nørland, vice president of sales for Copenhagen Airports A/S.
Lagkagehuset is open Sun-Friday 05.00 - 21.00 and Saturday
