Real Estate in Copenhagen Airport

Did you know that Copenhagen Airport (CPH) has more than 400,000 m² of covered floor space?

Or that the airport covers an area of 11.8 km², which is only slightly less than Heathrow?

These areas are used by the 21 million passengers who pass through the airport each year and the 22,000 employees who work at the various companies situated at the airport.

Real Estate Development and Operations is the business area of CPH charged with planning, developing and leasing commercial areas and real estate projects in and around the airport, except from shops and parkingfacilities

To facilitate our presentation of the many different opportunities for establishing a business at the airport, we have divided the airport into four areas: north, east, south and west. A brief description of the typical activities in each area is presented below.

Area view    The North Area comprises the terminal and passenger areas used for travel. This includes shops, travel agencies, the Hilton Hotel, parking facilities and more.

Terminals for handling air freight are situated in the East Area, a centrally located traffic hub near the Øresund Bridge, the motorway and the railway.

Companies such as cargo- and logistic, mail- and transportation companies are examples on types of Enterprises already situated in the area. The East area is, with its more than 400,000 m2 of undeveloped land, the largest joint development area in the airport, and the area where the multi-tenant building “CPH Cargo City” is planned to be build.

The administration buildings in the South Area house several charter companies, while aircraft are overhauled, maintained and repaired in the hangars found in this area.

The West Area is primarily used by CPH’s engineering departments as the location of administration offices, workshops, garages, etc. The prize-winning airport terminal designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen is situated at the entrance to the West Area. This terminal was originally built in the North Area in 1939. It was then moved to the West Area in 1999, after which it was restored to its original appearance. Today, the terminal is commonly referred to as the VL Building and houses offices, VIP events and many other activities.
