Copenhagen Airports A/S and SAS Cargo to host worldwide cargo conference
It has just been announced that Copenhagen Airports A/S and SAS Cargo will be the hosts of The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) Executive Conference and Annual General Meeting in 2008. The conference will take place at the Hilton Copenhagen Airport on May 12-14 2008 and around 200 delegates from all over the world are expected to attend.
TIACA is a worldwide organisation that brings together all decision-makers in the cargo segment. The TIACO conference is an annual event which is seen as one of the most important events in the cargo industry. At next year’s conference in Copenhagen, the participants will discuss issues such as development, environment and security. Also, time has been allocated for brief networking meetings, at which interested parties will be given the opportunity to discuss the potential for collaboration.
Potential at Copenhagen Airports
Chairman of TIACA, Jack Boisen, says: ”We are impressed by Copenhagen Airports’ commitment, future plans and visions for the cargo area. The airport is centrally located as the Northern European hub for cargo traffic to Scandinavia, the Baltic states and the area south of the Baltic Sea. We are convinced that TIACAs members will see the potential of Copenhagen Airports as an extensive future business area.”
”We are very proud that The International Air Cargo Association has chosen Copenhagen Airports to host TIACAs Executive Conference in 2008. This conference is seen as one of the most important events in the cargo industry. Next year’s conference will further consolidate the position of Copenhagen Airport as Scandinavia’s largest hub for cargo,” says Lars Korup, Cargo Manager at Copenhagen Airports A/S.
Focus on cargo
”We look forward to welcoming TIACA here in Copenhagen. As the leading cargo company in Scandinavia, SAS Cargo sees this as an excellent opportunity to put Scandinavia on the world map and create focus on air cargo in the region,” says Nils Pries Knudsen, VP Global Sales at SAS Cargo.
7% growth in cargo volumes in 2006 emphasized that Copenhagen Airports’ role as Scandinavia’s largest hub for cargo traffic is second to none. In 2006 the airport handled a total of 380,000 tons of cargo, compared to 355,000 tons the year before.
