EgyptAir expands in Copenhagen

Star Alliance airline EgyptAir adds an additional weekly frequency to its service between Copenhagen and Cairo from the launch of its winter programme. The expansion will benefit business travellers as well as tourists since Egypt is making a strong comeback as a tourist destination following last winter’s unrest.

EgyptAir’s service between Copenhagen and Cairo has been very successful in spite of last winter’s unrest in Egypt and other parts of the Middle East, and the airline therefore increases its capacity on the service by 25% by adding an extra weekly frequency from the launch of its winter timetable.

“The new frequency will be a flight on Mondays, which will strengthen EgyptAir’s offering to business travellers out of Copenhagen,” said Ole Wieth Christensen, Director of Airline Sales & Route Development at Copenhagen Airports, adding: “EgyptAir offers good connections from Cairo to the rest of Africa and the Middle East and the new frequency significantly strengthens the availability of connections between Scandinavia and large parts of Africa.”

Many transfer passengers
EgyptAir has a code-share agreement with SAS on Oslo, Stockholm and Gothenburg with a significant share of transfer passengers, so not only Danish passengers, but also passengers from large parts of Scandinavia, will benefit from the new frequency, which also further strengthens Copenhagen Airport’s position as a northern European traffic hub.

From 30 October, EgyptAir will operate between Copenhagen and Cairo on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
