easyJet to open service from Copenhagen to Lisbon
Only days after Copenhagen Airport was being named the best low cost airport in the world, low-cost carrier easyJet announces yet another route out of Copenhagen – this time to Lisbon.
Starting from next spring, easyJet, the second-largest low-cost carrier in Europe, expects to increase its passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport by 40,000 when the airline opens a new non-stop service to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.
This will be easyJet’s ninth non-stop service out of Copenhagen Airport’s low-cost facility CPH GO.
“This is good news, both for Copenhagen Airport and for Denmark. Each new service to Copenhagen generates growth, trade and jobs. And the new service to Lisbon shows that CPH GO is a success. We are now close to a million passengers at CPH GO per year,” said Ole Wieth Christensen, Director of Airline Sales & Route Development.
A unique opportunity
easyJet will be flying between Copenhagen and Lisbon on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Tickets will be available for booking from 10 November, said Thomas Haagensen, General Regional Manager for easyJet in northern Europe.
“EasyJet’s new route to Lisbon will give people in Denmark a unique opportunity to visit this attractive destination in southern Europe and experience the culture at low fares already from next spring.
Lisbon is a beautiful and truly interesting historical city, and the new service also provides easy access to the Portuguese beaches on the Atlantic. Lisbon complements our existing route network out of Copenhagen to other European cities and the skiing areas in the Alps,” said Thomas Haagensen.
easyJet currently operates flights to both London Gatwick and London Stansted as well as to Manchester, Berlin Schönefeld, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, Geneva and Milan Malpensa.
