CPH: New service to New York
Delta Air Lines is going to launch a new service out of Copenhagen to JFK, the biggest airport in New York, next spring. The new service will considerably expand the availability of connecting flights to and from all of the United States, which will benefit Copenhagen as a destination.
The world’s largest airline, Delta Air Lines, already now operates flights between Copenhagen Airport and its hub airport in Atlanta. In May 2010, Delta is going to launch a new service to one of its other main airports, JFK, the busiest airport in the New York area , which will significantly enhance the transport options to and from ”The Big Apple” – and the rest of the United States.

United States will benefit both business and tourism,” said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales, of Copenhagen Airports, who emphasises that the airport’s market surveys show that almost 90,000 passengers per year fly to and from JFK.
Large route networkWith a total of 379 destinations and a fleet of 440 aircraft, Delta Air Lines has a massive route network, not least out of its two main airports, Atlanta and JFK, and the new Copenhagen – New York service will substantially strengthen the availability of onward connections to attractive destinations such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle on the US west coast.
The new service to New York is good news in itself and, in particular, it is a small but important step towards strengthening Copenhagen Airport as the traffic hub of Scandinavia because more routes means more visitors to the region,” said Lars Bernhard Jørgensen, CEO of Wonderful Copenhagen.
The financial centre of the United States
“Copenhagen is currently the most important destination without non-stop flight services to New York JFK. We are pleased to be able to complement our existing service to Atlanta with a new service connecting Copenhagen with the financial centre of the United States, which will strengthen both business and tourism in the two regions,” said Jeffrey Lobl, VP, Network Planning, Delta Air Lines.
Delta Air Lines will begin operating daily services to JFK on 28 May next year. The airline will use Boeing 757-200s with seating capacity for 170 passengers on the service and the flights will leave Copenhagen at 11.45 a.m. and arrive at New York at 2.10 p.m. The departure time out of JFK will be 7.15 p.m. with arrival at Copenhagen the following morning at 9.20 a.m. For additional information, go to
