Towards a better transfer product

CPH recently held a so-called interline conference for all the airlines that operate on Copenhagen Airport. The purpose of the conference was to create a forum where airlines can meet and establish new business relations – and develop CPH’s potential as a transfer airport. A record number of airlines participated this year.

During the recent one-day interline conference, 110 meetings were held,  three times as many as at the first interline conference held in 2005. The number of participants has also grown substantially over the past four years. This year, as many as 31 airlines were represented at the conference.

“The growing number of participants was a clear signal that the conference creates value to the airlines and CPH. The airlines currently have great focus on optimising their business and are taking every opportunity go get into a dialogue with other players in the industry to enable the parties to jointly develop new solutions that can benefit their business,” said Carsten Nørland, Vice President, Copenhagen Airports, A/S.

An important element in the strategy of achieving a better transfer product
The interline conference is an important element in the Aviation Department’s strategy of improving the transfer product at Copenhagen Airport, among other things by creating opportunities for more collaboration among the airlines and other suppliers of aviation-related products and services.

“An important element of our strategy is to create a framework for talks by the airlines so that they can jointly develop new solutions which have the effect that passengers get a better transfer product and choose Copenhagen Airport as their hub. This will help us retain our position as the key transport hub in Scandinavia,” said Nørland.

Copenhagen Airport’s position as a hub strengthened
The general response from the airlines was very good. Jørgen Peter Villadsen, Interline Revenue Manager at SAS, made the following comment:

“The conference was very rewarding to me. The brief 15-minute meetings were a good opportunity to start up a dialogue that may lead to further negotiations. I am sure the conference will potentially help strengthen Copenhagen Airport’s position as a hub, for the benefit of airlines, passengers and CPH. I will certainly attend the conference again next year,” he said.
