Non-stop service between Copenhagen and Canada

From the summer of 2010, Air Canada opens a daily direct service between Copenhagen Airport and Toronto, the biggest city of Canada. From Toronto, there are good onward connections with Air Canada to a large number of destinations in Canada, the United States and South America.

From the coming summer, tourists and business travellers can fly non-stop from Copenhagen Airport to Canada. Air Canada is going to open a new service between Copenhagen and Toronto on 25 June 2010. Being the only non-stop service between Scandinavia and Canada, this service will give passengers new options and better connections to a number of North American destinations.

“A non-stop service between Copenhagen and Toronto has been high on our wish list in recent years as the number of passengers to North America has increased. The new service will not only give Scandinavian travellers a non-stop service to Toronto, the biggest city in Canada, but also good onward connections on Air Canada to cities such as Halifax, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver and popular US destinations such as Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle ,” said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales, Copenhagen Airports.

Daily departures at 12.20 noon
Air Canada will use Boeing 767-300 ERs seating 211 passengers, 24 of which on Executive First with comfortable “lay flat bed suites”. All classes will feature digital in-flight video services with personal screens, network outlets for computers and other electronic equipment and USB ports.

The flying time to Toronto will be approximately 8 hours and 30 minutes. The departure time from Copenhagen will be 12.20 noon with arrival time in Toronto at 2.50 p.m. local time. The departure time from Toronto will be 5.15 p.m. local time with arrival in Copenhagen at 6.55 a.m. on the following day.

The arrival time in Toronto will allow for onward connections on Air Canada flights to a large number of destinations in Canada, the United States and South America. For instance, there will be connections to San Francisco or Los Angeles on the US west coast with a total travel time of 16-17 hours, including the transfer time in Toronto.

Collaboration with SAS
Air Canada is a member of the Star Alliance and offers good connections for European passengers via its alliance partner, SAS, which flies to Copenhagen from a total of 52 destinations in Denmark, Scandinavia and the rest of Europe.

“The new service will thus also strengthen Copenhagen Airport’s role as an important northern European air traffic hub. In combination with the non-stop routes to the United States, the new Toronto service will give us a very strong position in terms of traffic between northern Europe and North America,” said Carsten Nørland.

Air Canada is Canada’s biggest airline carrying more than 33 million passengers per year. The airline operates flights to more than 170 destinations – 58 of which in Canada and 55 in the United States. Air Canada is number 13 by size worldwide. Via the Star Alliance, Air Canada collaborates with airlines such as United and Continental on the US market.
