New SAS routes to Kiev and Bucharest

From April 2008, passengers will be able to fly SAS to Kiev in the Ukraine and Bucharest in Romania when the airline opens routes to these two new destinations.

Starting this spring, SAS will expand its route network to include two new routes to eastern Europe. Direct flights between Copenhagen and Kiev will begin on 31 March, when SAS opens a new service to the destination. In addition, SAS will be opening a route to Bucharest, the capital of Romania, on 1 April. Both routes will have three weekly frequencies. The flying time will be two and a half hours to both destinations.

An attractive traffic programme

“It is our ambition to offer northern Europe’s most attractive traffic programme, and with these two direct routes, SAS will be expanding

opportunities for trade and cooperation between northern and eastern Europe. I am pleased to announce the opening of the routes to Kiev and Bucharest and look forward to welcoming our first customers," said Susanne Larsen, CEO of SAS Scandinavian Airlines Denmark.

Gateway to the Ukrainian market

Copenhagen Airports is also pleased that SAS is adding service to two new eastern European metropolises; it will be the first time Kiev is part of Copenhagen Airport’s route network.

“New routes and a well-developed route network are essential if Copenhagen is to maintain its position as Scandinavia's hub. So we are pleased that SAS will now be flying out of Copenhagen to these two growth centres in eastern Europe, since this creates a platform for trade with the Ukrainian and Romanian markets,” said Brian Petersen, CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S.

Besides SAS, Cimber Air has weekly flights between Copenhagen and Bucharest.
