New route from Copenhagen Airport to Aalesund

It will now be possible to fly direct between Copenhagen and Aalesund starting on 30 March 2008, when SAS opens a new daily service to this destination on Norway's west coast.

SAS has just announced that it intends to open a new direct route between Copenhagen Airport and Aalesund, Norway. From 30 March, SAS will operate two flights daily, one each from Copenhagen and Aalesund, on all days of the week except Saturdays.

Great potential in the Aalesund route

“We are very pleased that SAS has decided to open a new service to Aalesund. A finely meshed route network to small Scandinavian destinations helps maintain our position as Scandinavia's hub. For this reason, we see great potential in this new route to Aalesund, which we expect will increase the number of transfer passengers and also boost traffic to Norway,” said Brian Petersen, CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S.

The route to Aalesund has been on Copenhagen Airport’s list of potential routes for some time, with close to 11,000 passengers per year expected to make use of it. The top-25 list of unserved routes can be viewed at http://www.cph.dk/.

Known for its unique architecture

Aalesund has roughly 40,000 inhabitants and is well known internationally for its Jugend/Art Noveau-style architecture. The name of the airport at Aalesund is Vigra, and it is only a ten-minute drive outside the city.

The flying time between Aalesund and Copenhagen will be 1 hour and 50 minutes.

The new service to Aalesund Airport is the eighth Norwegian destination out of Copenhagen Airport.
