More passengers are travelling to the Baltic States via Copenhagen
Copenhagen Airport continues to strengthen its position as a hub for air traffic to and from the Baltic States.
The number of passengers on the services between Copenhagen and the Baltic States grew again this year, by 37%, and a growing number of these passengers use Copenhagen Airport as a transit airport to change flights and continue their journey on one of the more than 130 routes offered by the largest airport in Scandinavia.
In May, the number of transfer passengers on the services between Copenhagen and Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia rose by 50% year on year, whilst the rate of growth was 42% year on year in the period January to May.
“The demand for air transport to and from the Baltic States is growing in step with the economic growth in these countries. Due to its geographic location and the wide range of services to the Baltic States, Copenhagen Airport is a natural choice for passengers travelling to and from the three Baltic States,” said Corinna Lundbæk Pedersen, Department Manager at Copenhagen Airports A/S.
The number of air passengers between Copenhagen and the Baltic States was 195,000 in the period from January to May, 53,000 more than in the same period last year. Air Baltic, SAS and Estonian Air operate the services from Copenhagen to the Baltic States.
