SAS doubles frequencies to Jönköping and Klaipeda/Palanga

SAS plans to double the number of frequencies on two routes out of Copenhagen Airport from 1 September 2005. The two destinations are Jönköping, Sweden and Klaipeda/Palanga, Lithuania. Both destinations are currently served by one daily frequency (except on Saturdays), but from next month, they will have two daily return flights. The two routes are mainly used by business people travelling through Copenhagen Airport to other European or overseas destinations.

According to SAS, business people travelling both to and from Jönköping have expressed a demand for more frequencies to and from Copenhagen with good connections to international flights to destinations such as Chicago, Seattle, Tokyo and the most important destinations in Europe. There is also a growing demand from business people travelling to and from Klaipeda/Palanga in Lithuania who use Copenhagen Airport for connections to other destinations.

There is currently one morning service from Jönköping to Copenhagen and a return flight in the early evening. From 1 September, a mid-day return flight will be added. The route will be served by a 50-seat CRJ 200 regional jet from Cimber Air.

There is currently a Copenhagen to Klaipeda/Palanga return flight in the afternoon. From 1 September, a morning flight out of Klaipeda/Palanga and an evening flight out of Copenhagen will be added. SAS uses 72-seat Q400s and CRJ 200 regional jets from Cimber Air on the route.
