CPH – the fastest growing European airport among comparable airports reduces charges on international departures
A growth of 11.9% in total departing passengers makes July 2010 the busiest month in CPH ever with more than 2.2 mio. passengers.
Transfer passengers increased at almost the same rate keeping the transfer share unchanged at 21.3% and traffic to Danish destinations increased by 34%. In fact, CPH has continued to achieve the fastest traffic growth among comparable European airports* in the first seven months of 2010 and there are opportunity for further growth due to high propensity to travel, numerous unserved destinations and the opening of a new dedicated low cost terminal.
A shift from charter traffic to scheduled traffic continues leaving the charter share at 10.6% of total traffic – down from 11.4% in 2009. Even though the number of seats has increased by 11.2% in July the airlines have managed to increase the overall load factor from 79% in 2009 to 80%.
Another initiative which will help support the impressive traffic growth at CPH is a supplement to the existing charges agreement which decreases the passenger charge of international departures notably. The charge will be reduced with DKK 16.57 – or approximately € 2.2. In addition CPH is working intensely at increasing the international accessibility together with various tourist organizations and other local parties via the new route development fund Copenhagen Connected.
