Improved transfer product increases traffic volume
With the aim of becoming one of the world’s best transfer airports and the leading traffic hub of Northern Europe all transfer related processes at CPH have been examined and improved during the last six months.
One of the cornerstones in the improved transfer product has been to reduce the transfer time by securing that transfer passengers easily and quickly reach their departure gate. As a result all gates have been equipped with transfer monitors. These show the first coming eight connecting flights to the arriving passengers as well as the walking distances to the departure gates in question.
Stress and concern of missing connection flights and general orientation is very important for transferring passengers, and easier access to relevant information has been the key driver for this project. “We know from surveys that easy overview and assistance in way finding are valued highly by the passengers. For this reason feedback on the new transfer monitors is very positive. The passengers are very satisfied with the new service enhancement and consider it a great improvement”, says Ole Wieth Christensen, Director Airline Sales & Route Development.
All gates at CPH are equipped with the new transfer monitors - an investment of approximately € 260,000. This initiative is a part of the new and improved transfer product thus benefitting all carriers focusing on transfer traffic. To offer the best service to transfer passengers and provide a relaxed journey, CPH would like to encourage all airlines with transfer passengers to announce the monitors and their function as part of the in flight speech upon landing at Copenhagen Airport.
As a next step the traffic information system will be improved further during the fall allowing the passengers to be informed about any rebooking as early as the arrival gate. Improving the transfer product is an ongoing process but the results so far can already be seen in the traffic volumes – hence the number of transfer passengers increased by 11.7% in July alone and the transfer growth rate has been two digit for three consecutive months.
