Gold medal to the Danish economy

Denmark is the best country to handle the financial crisis and best to be front runner in the competition when the crisis is over. That is the conclusion after being ranked no. 1 of the acknowledged international business school IMD in Switzerland.

IMD has ranked Denmark no. 1 in a recently conducted stress test of several countries’ ability to cope with the financial crisis and to strengthen the competitiveness in the near future.

“We rank Denmark best even though the economic forecasts for this year are still weak. We see a strong survivability in the Danish business world and in the public sector, and in addition a long-standing stability in the Danish society,” conclude the analysts headed by Professor Stéphane Garielli. The ranking is a combination of four different factors: an economic perspective, the government, the business climate and social conditions.

Besides IMD also the American financial trade journal Forbes, the British Economist and the international organization World Economic Forum ranked Denmark in top in their recent studies.

In line with other small countries Denmark is being praised for its flexibility and the ability to conform or change if necessary to manage. At the same time IMD commends Denmark for its famous “flexicurity” which refers to a labour market where both hiring and firing employees is easy along with a solid social safety net for those who are unemployed.
