11% growth in locally departing passengers a month in 2007. CPH are currently experiencing an impressive growth and 11 new routes will consolidate this growth even further.
Sterling is the most expanding airline with five new destinations and two new carriers has entered CPH. Aer Lingus and Coast Air have both announced their entry to Copenhagen Airport and hence, all of Denmark, Southern Sweden and the Baltic region.
The 11 new routes that are inaugurating from June 1st and to the end of the year is the result of a close co-operation with the airlines and many meeting at various conferences – latest at Regional Europe in Sofia which was very rewarding to CPH.
The 11 new routes encompass leisure destinations like Madeira, Dubai and Chambéry and business destinations like Dublin, Brussels and Dortmund. In addition routes to Iceland, East Midlands, Liepaja and Haugesund will start during the coming months.

New security checkpoint doubles capacity
The busy summer season is coming up, and CPH has changed and expanded the airport since last year’s peak season. On 1 June, the new, central security checkpoint was opened, replacing the two existing security checkpoints in Terminal 2 and 3. The new checkpoint doubles capacity to 16 tracks and makes it faster for passengers to get through security.
“Compared with other countries, we have many more international flight connections than the size of the population warrants. It is important to Copenhagen Airport to retain and expand its position as the hub of Scandinavia and the Baltic region. This continuously requires large investments in buildings, facilities and technical equipment which are to ensure that the airport is efficient and has a high security and service level,” said Minister of Finance Thor Pedersen at the opening.
Since last summer, CPH has invested in more capacity for passengers. In addition to the new security area, the airport has also doubled the number of check-in kiosks made available to our airline customers free of charge.
