The charges airlines pay to use the facilities of Copenhagen Airport has gone down and are now among the lowest of major airports in Europe. A comparison of the level of charges at the 25 largest airports in Europe shows that Copenhagen Airport is now number nine on the list of airports with the lowest charges.

Lower costs at CPH

The comparison of the airport charges for 2006 has just been presented by Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) and it shows that CPH has lower charges than competitors such as London – Heathrow, Frankfurt and Stockholm.

Copenhagen Airport reduced its charges by 3% at the turn of the year. As a result the airport has moved from having the 12th lowest charges in Europe last year to 9th lowest this year.

“Now and then it is claimed that charges at Copenhagen Airport are far too high. With the TRL’s objective comparison in our hands, we can reject that claim,” said Niels Boserup, President and CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S.

Prices of landing and take-off charges for eight common aircraft types with average passenger numbers are compared in the TRL. With few exceptions, the survey comprises all airports with more than 10 million international passengers per year.

CPH successfully help airlines market low fares in South Sweden

A rather large share of low cost traffic is the result of the level of charges at CPH. As a result CPH has created a portal of low cost tickets from Copenhagen Airport to various destinations.

All tickets on the low fares portal are listed on the website www.kastrup.nu* which is also the main focus of the marketing campaign which is currently running in Southern Sweden.

1.5 million DKK is spend by Copenhagen Airport on the South Sweden marketing campaign and the purpose is to have more Swedes choose CPH as their point of departure hence, creating more traffic for our airline customers. And so far the campaign has turned out to be a great success. During the first campaign week www.kastrup.nu had 7,200 unique visitors.

25% of the locally boarding passengers at CPH are currently Swedes and to 40% of the entire Swedish population Copenhagen Airport is the closest international airport to their homes.

All airline customers have been given the offer to list their prices on www.kastrup.nu and we appreciate all the positive feedback we have received on this account.
