The catchment area of Copenhagen Airport
In the beginning of 2008 Cowi Consult did an analysis on the catchment area of Copenhagen Airport compared to the catchment areas of Hamburg, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Billund and Aarhus respectively. On the basis of this analysis the following conclustions can be drawn:
-
Copenhagen is generally the airport which most citizens can reach in less than half an hour, 1 hour, 1.5 hours and 2 hours respectively.
-
The line of demarcation between the catchment areas of Copenhagen and Stockholm is placed about 4 hours drive from the Swedish border. The demarcation is a relatively straight line from Oskarshamn, to Jonkoping, through Lake Vanarn and towards Oslo.
-
From Copenhagen it is faster to use the public transportation system rather than travelling by car to/from a number of areas in the Malmö/Lund region, the north eastern part of Skaane and Smaaland.
-
Using the public transportation system you can reach farther up north in Sweden from Copenhagen Airport (CPH) than from Malmö Sturup (MMX).
-
The line of demarcation between the airports in Copenhagen and Billund is placed around Nyborg at Funen if you are travelling by car.
