Jacobs Consultancy (JC) is an internationally recognized consultancy that provides transport planning and management consulting services in the aviation, ports and shipping, rail, and surface transportation sectors. Each year JC publishes several aviation related publications - among those Review of Airport Charges in which the Benchmark on Charges above is included. The JC index is widely used in the aviation business and by the British Civil Aviation Authority CAA.
The index of charges is calculated from the charges which would be imposed on a sample of eight different aircraft types making one lnding and one departure at various European airports. The aircraft vary in sixe from around 120 seats (Boeing 737-500) to around 400 seats ( Boeing 747-400). As a basis the JC Benchmark gives an objective and neutral general comparison of European airports.
