Copenhagen Airport maintains its position as the biggest airport in Scandinavian with 17.7 million passengers in 2003

Spring 2003 was marked by the outbreak of the SARS in Asia and the war in Iraq. As a consequence, a number of airlines had to heavily reduce their capacity out of Copenhagen Airport. At the same time, a slow-down in the Swedish passengers’ travel activity by air had a negative influence on the traffic in Copenhagen Airport just as a general economic slow-down at two of Copenhagen Airport’s most important markets, the Norwegian and the German, influenced the traffic negatively.

Despite a decline in the total number of passengers, Copenhagen Airport managed to maintain its position as the biggest airport in Scandinavia with a total of 17.7 million passengers corresponding to a decrease of 3.1%.

The graph below illustrates the development in the total number of passengers per month for the years 2002 and 2003.
