Copenhagen Airport is still the biggest airport in Scandinavia with 20,9 million passengers in 2006
In 2006 the total number of passengers in Copenhagen Airport was 20,9 million, corresponding to an increase of 869,000 passengers (+4.5%) compared with 2005.
Breakdown of departing passengers
In 2006 the number of locally departing passengers increased by 595,915 passengers (+9.0%) and made up 69.2% of the departing passengers. The number of transfer/transit passengers decreased by 153,551 passengers (-4.5%) and made up 30.8% of the departing passengers.
International passengers
In 2006, the number of international passengers increased by 718,122 passengers corresponding to an increase of 3.9%. The number of international scheduled passengers increased by 708,696 passengers (+4.2%), while the number of international charter passengers increased by 14,583 passengers (+1.0%).
Intercontinental
Traffic on the intercontinental routes has increased by a total of 10,491 passengers (+0.6%). When looking at the number of passengers United States experienced the largest growth as the number of passengers increased by 94,589 (+14.7%).
The Nordic Countries
The number of passengers on the routes to the Nordic Countries has increased by a total of 24,990 passengers corresponding to an increase of 0.5%.

Europa
Traffic on the European routes has increased by a total of 682,634 passengers (+6.0%).
When looking at the number of passengers Germany experienced the largest growth as the num-ber of passengers increased by 270,229 (+16.3%). In 2006 traffic to the EU-countries made up 68.2% of total traffic, corresponding to 12.983,656 passengers (+5.0%).
Domestic passengers
The total number of domestic passengers shows an increase of 177,502 passengers (+10.7%) in 2006 when compared with 2005. The large increase in domestic traffic was partly stimulated
by the Danish Government’s decision to phase out the DKK 75.00 passenger tax, initially with a 50% reduction and thereby greater competition between flights.
The largest increase in domestic traffics is seen on the route to Aalborg with a total of 101,704 pas-sengers (+19.3%). In September 2007 Sterling started a flight to Aalborg, which has led to in-creased competition. Beside Sterling the route to Aalborg is also served by SAS and Cimber Air.
The development in low cost traffic
In 2006 low-cost traffic made up 13.3% of traffic corresponding to app. 2,8 mio. passengers.
In 2006 the number of low-cost passengers has increased by a total of 808,769 passengers (+41.0%).

Operations and take-off weight
The total number of take-offs and landings in 2006 were 258,356 operations, a decrease of a total of 10,299 operations corresponding to 3.8% when compared with 2006. MTOW shows a decrease of 1.9%.
Cargo
In 2006, the number of cargo operations shows a decrease of 265 operations (-3.1%) while MTOW on cargo operations shows an increase of 11.2% when compared with 2005. The total cargo volume is 380,024 tons corresponding to an increase of 7.0%.
