Copenhagen Airport is still the biggest airport in Scandinavia with 20 million passengers in 2005
In 2005 the total number of passengers in Copenhagen Airport was 20 million, corresponding to an increase of almost 1 million passengers (5.0%) compared with 2004.
Breakdown of departing passengers
In 2005 the number of locally departing passengers increased by 680,867 passengers (+11.4%). The locally departing passengers made up 66.6% of the departing passengers.
The number of transfer/transit passengers decreased by 228,318 passengers (6.3%). The transfer/transit passengers made up 33.4% of the departing passengers.
International passengers
In 2005, the number of international passengers increased by 0.9 mio. passengers corresponding to an increase of 5.1%. The number of international scheduled passengers increased by 0.7 mio. passengers (4.3%), while the number of international charter passengers increased by 188,277 passengers (15.0%).
Europe
Traffic on the European routes has increased by a total of 773,468 passengers (7.3%).
When looking at the number of passengers Spain experienced the largest growth as the number of passengers increased by 127,526 (11.1%). In 2005 traffic to the EU-countries made up 61.9% of total traffic, corresponding to 12.367,692 passengers (8.0%).
The Nordic Countries
The number of passengers on the routes to the Nordic Countries has increased by a total of 12,969 passengers corresponding to an increase of 0.3%.
Growth/fall divided onto countries:
• Finland: +94,821 passengers (+13.8%)
• Iceland: +32,162 passengers (+8.1%)
• Sweden: -48,842 passengers (-2.6%)
• Norway: -65,172 passengers (-3.1%)
Intercontinental
Traffic on the intercontinental routes has increased by a total of 106,836 passengers (6.0%). When looking at the number of passengers China experienced the largest growth as the number of passengers increased by 62,416 (29.5%).
Domestic passengers
The total number of domestic passengers shows an increase of 54,014 passengers (3.4%) in 2005 when compared with 2004. The largest increase in domestic traffic is seen on the route to Rønne with a total of 38,395 passengers (32.8%). The increase in traffic to Rønne is very much the result of Danish Air Transport starting flights to Rønne in the summer of 2005. Cimber Air also has flights to Rønne.
The development in low cost traffic
In 2005 low-cost traffic made up 10.0% of traffic corresponding to app. 2 mio. passengers.
In 2005 the number of low-cost passengers has increased by a total of 186,802 passengers (10.5%).
Following the merger of the two airlines Sterling and Maersk in September 2005 Maersk passengers count as low cost passengers.

Operations and take-off weight
The total number of take-offs and landings in 2005 was 268,655 operations, a decrease of a total of 3,863 operations corresponding to 1.4% when compared with 2004. MTOW shows an increase of 0.4%.
Cargo
In 2005, the number of cargo operations shows an increase of 78 operations (0.9%) while MTOW on cargo operations shows an increase of 13.2% when compared with 2004. The total cargo volume is 355,087 tons corresponding to an increase of 5.8%.
