Copenhagen Airports A/S

Copenhagen Airport, founded in 1925, is owned and operated by Copenhagen Airports A/S, a listed company which also owns and operates Roskilde Airport. In addition, Copenhagen Airports A/S is engaged in international activities in Newcastle International Airport in the UK.

In October 1990, Copenhagen Airports A/S (CPH) took over the ownership and operation of the two airports at Kastrup and Roskilde. Until then, the airports had been owned by the Danish government and operated by the Copenhagen Airports Authority, a public corporation under the Danish Ministry of Transport.

The public limited company was wholly owned by the Danish government, but in 1994 the government sold 25% of the shares to private investors. At the same time, CPH was listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. In 1996 and 2000 respectively, the Danish government sold another 24% and 17% of its shares in the company. In both cases, the share capital was increased by DKK 5 million in the form of employee shares.

At 31 December 2010, CPH’s share capital comprised a total of DKK 784,807,000. At the end of the year, Copenhagen Airports Denmark ApS (CAD) held 53.7% and the Danish State held 39.2% of the Company’s share capital.  No shareholder – other than the Danish government and Copenhagen Airports Denmark ApS (CAD) – holds more than 5% of the shares. Most of CPH’s approximately 1,700 employees are shareholders in the company.
